Some of our recent Happy Tails!!

Wanted to let every body know how Danke the Wonderdobe is doing!! If our dobie people remember, many chipped in to pay for her transport from the Cayman islands to our rescue. Here she is pictured with her "brother" Tahoe playing in the rain at her foster mommy's house!! Danke is truly doing wonderful. She may be a senior, but she is in fact the loudest and most rambunctious Doberman in her foster home. She LOVES to play and run around, she has great muscular definition now and is so happy these days. We couldn't imagine she would bounce back this well when we got her.
Danke is now adopted by a retired couple in Oakland Park. They love and adore her every day, she is the perfect fit for them and she loves them both very much.

Recovered Scabies Pups- Adopted!

Since when has scabies been so cute?!

"Idk about this man...That's a long jump..."

Sarcoptic mange puppies Blondie and Rocky came into the rescue in May, they took about a month to recover and afterwards looked just like new. They're both in adoptive homes now!

Special Case Adoption!

New Arrival: Skip - severely injured pup MDAS

Skip, after the clinic staff put two casts on his back legs for the night.
This little puppy, now "Chep", was brought into MDAS in a cardboard box just before 8:00 p.m on May 25th, 2011. while the shelter was closing down & the vets had already left. A woman said she'd found him and left the box on the counter, the staff opened the box and pulled him out to do a physical exam, upon which they were shocked to discover that his back hind legs were completely degloved (skin was removed), all ligaments, muscle and bone were exposed. On the end of his tail, the bone was also completely exposed.

A few of the staff members stayed until 10:30 p.m. to take care of him and wrap his legs up and administer pain meds to ease this boy's suffering. A staff member took Cheppe home to keep watch on him, and has taken him home each night since. He now officially belongs to our rescue and will definitely be one of the more memorable recovery tales of 2011.

**UPDATE** Cheppe was adopted in late August and is the pampered prince of his house, and his legs are healing so well. He no longer needs bandages, and though he will never be able to regrow the pads on his back feet, he walks just like normal.

Buddy (formerly "Rocco" from MDAS) 3 legged rottie Adopted!!

Buddy came into Miami Dade Animal Services with a homemade bandaging job of duct tape and cardboard on his front left leg. Upon examination it was determined the leg had to be amputated, which it was, and Buddy was placed in recovery. When his time was up an amazing employee of MDAS took him home and fostered him herself until she could find a rescue to take this boy. When we finally met him, it was obvious as to why this lucky boy was chosen to avoid being put down. His sweet and friendly nature was overwhelming, and there was nothing he met that wasn't his friend. And he loves kids! He was adopted over the weekend and is VERY happy in his new home!

Some history:

Trooper, a 9 month old rottie mix came into MDAS with duct tape wrapped around his front left leg and the smell of decaying flesh was emitting from the "bandaging", just as the shelter was closing intake. It was Trooper's great attitude that saved him at the Miami shelter, his happy spirit and constant wagging tail won over the staff's hearts. After the vets amputated his leg, a staff member took him home and fostered him until a rescue would step up and take him in, which was us! He is now doing wonderfully in his foster home and is just the sweetest boy, always happy, always excited to see you. Trooper LOVES kids and loves cats, and gets along well with other dogs. He needs a happy home to appreciate his "uniqueness" as much as we do! Adopt him today!

And this special three-legged boy is looking for a loving home!
ROCCONEUTERED MALE , BLACK ROTTWEILER MIX Approximately 9 MOS old
Comments: Pete is a super sweet 9 month old Rottweiler mix looking for a new home! Pete was recently involved in an accident that has left him injured. But now the doctors have amputated his leg and he is in a foster home until somebody wants to rescue. He will be a happy 3 legged doggie that can be your best friend. 3/13/11-update, Pete is renamed Rocco and is doing very well, happy and just waiting for somebody to adopt/rescue, estimated weight 47 pounds.I am already neutered and ready to go.
